New England Road Trip
"IT'S NOT ABOUT THE DESTINATION, IT'S ABOUT THE JOURNEY"
Today is our 6th day on the road with our friends Jack & Karin Palumbo doing our 3 week trip through New England. The first stop was at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada where we spent 2 nights at Bedham Hall B&B. We had a blast literally going into the Falls on the Maid of the Mist. Our pictures depict the experience best and will allow us to relive the invigorating experience time and again.
While at Niagara other highlights were:
- stopping at the infamous floral clock
- shopping in the quaint but well manicured town of Niagara on the Lake (flowers everywhere!)
- having "chips & gravy" & beers at Angels Inn (a pub built in the 17th Century )
- dinner with a view of the Falls changing colors at the Embassy Suites 9th floor
From Niagara we drove into upper New York and by 6PM we stumbled upon a positively stunning B&B called Schroon Lake Inn. Fortunately, they had a couple spacious rooms available. Wanting to just relax, our gracious hosts, Mark & Cheryl, provided us with plates and cheese board so we could have a feast of cheese, crackers, fruit and wine. Perfect!
Yesterday, September 12th, after a gourmet breakfast at Schroon Lake Inn, we were on the road again by 9AM. We crossed into Vermont via ferry, drove into New Hampshire and ended at another great find called the Saco River Inn in Frieburg, Maine. It was a wonderful lodge tucked away in the woods. All along the way we've been searching for moose (this is an item on Karin's bucket list). We have yet to see one but we're on the look out!
That brings me to today, Sunday the 13th. We've left the lodge at 8:30AM and are in route to our next destination - Acadia Park. We figure it should take us about 5 hours to get there. Here we have reservations for 2 cottages where we will spend 2 nights. It should be beautiful. We look forward to lots of hiking for the next couple of days.
