Some places we travel to are so remote we do not have access to the internet but we're back on line now so I'll try to catch you up.

Sunday, September 13th

We drove onto the island of Mt Desert Island, Acadia National Park in Maine. (I know you love national parks, Kate, have you ever been to this one?) It is absolutley intriguing. We had rented two darling cottages. Since we arrived around 6pm we had time to go into Bar Harbor and feast on lobster. It was wonderful!

Monday, September 14th

Got up early and went up to Cadillac Mountain. It was breathtaking! You can see islands, mountains and of course, the ocean. From there we went down the mountain (it is an elavation of 15000 feet) and hiked along the oceanfront for over an hour. We spent the rest of the day driving around the entire island and then back to Bar Harbor, eating at a local restaraunt that won an award on the Food Network for their lobster strudel. It was incredible. And , of course, throughout the day we ate many items that contained blueberries. Did you know that 85% of the blueberries come from Maine?

Tuesday, September 15th

We begain our trip again, leaving Acadia Park and working our way towards Boston. We stopped at the very chic town of Freeport, Maine and went into the infamous LL Bean store. It covers an entire block. The rest of the town was all very nicely done upscale outlet stores.

After we had our hands full of bags we decided to head for our next stop - the York Harbor Inn in guess where? York Harbor, still in Maine but about an hours drive from Boston. We were pleasantly surprised to find they had upgraded us to oceanfront suites at this Inn. And so that is where we are this morning as I write this. Listening to the surf of the ocean and getting ready to go for a long walk before we leave for Boston. Oh, and the restaraunt here is absolutley outstanding. Joe and I had a seafood pasta last night that was to die for!

Hope everyone is well and you don't find this too boring. Wish you were here!

New England Road Trip

"IT'S NOT ABOUT THE DESTINATION, IT'S ABOUT THE JOURNEY"

Today is our 6th day on the road with our friends Jack & Karin Palumbo doing our 3 week trip through New England. The first stop was at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada where we spent 2 nights at Bedham Hall B&B. We had a blast literally going into the Falls on the Maid of the Mist. Our pictures depict the experience best and will allow us to relive the invigorating experience time and again.

While at Niagara other highlights were:

- stopping at the infamous floral clock

- shopping in the quaint but well manicured town of Niagara on the Lake (flowers everywhere!)

- having "chips & gravy" & beers at Angels Inn (a pub built in the 17th Century )

- dinner with a view of the Falls changing colors at the Embassy Suites 9th floor

From Niagara we drove into upper New York and by 6PM we stumbled upon a positively stunning B&B called Schroon Lake Inn. Fortunately, they had a couple spacious rooms available. Wanting to just relax, our gracious hosts, Mark & Cheryl, provided us with plates and cheese board so we could have a feast of cheese, crackers, fruit and wine. Perfect!

Yesterday, September 12th, after a gourmet breakfast at Schroon Lake Inn, we were on the road again by 9AM. We crossed into Vermont via ferry, drove into New Hampshire and ended at another great find called the Saco River Inn in Frieburg, Maine. It was a wonderful lodge tucked away in the woods. All along the way we've been searching for moose (this is an item on Karin's bucket list). We have yet to see one but we're on the look out!

That brings me to today, Sunday the 13th. We've left the lodge at 8:30AM and are in route to our next destination - Acadia Park. We figure it should take us about 5 hours to get there. Here we have reservations for 2 cottages where we will spend 2 nights. It should be beautiful. We look forward to lots of hiking for the next couple of days.
